Villa had to overcome a strong wind and the home side before finally running out comfortable winners as they eventually turned their supremacy into goals.
During the early minutes of play both sides had trouble coming to terms with the strong wind, Euxton had the wind at their backs but this proved no great advantage as many through balls were carrying to far with the wind. On ten minutes a clever flick from Damien Stewart almost put in Adrian Briggs. Five minutes later Freckleton came close with a low shot past the foot of the post. Then it was Villa back on the attack forcing a corner following great interplay between Damien Stewart, Rhenden Pillay and Liam Conway.
The visitors continued to press, forcing a number of corners and were now getting the better of their opponents but not unduly troubling the home keeper. On the half hour a Villa free kick on the halfway line was cleared for a corner, a quick short corner allowed Damien Stewart to set up Sam Shone, who shot just over the bar. Two minutes later Villa had their best effort of the half when a ball in from the right was put only inches over the bar by Liam Conway.
Efforts on goal continued from the visitors, with ten minutes of the half remaining Damien Stewart took a quick free kick which flew wide of the post.  This was the pattern of play for the remainder of the half, plenty of attempts on goal by the visitors, but non really troubling the home keeper. So Villa took the half on points, but had nothing to show for their efforts.
From the re-start Villa's play improved as they were able to control the ball better playing against the wind. With three minutes of the half played great work down the right from Liam Conway and Adam McAlister created an opening for Damien Stewart, who was able to put a low shot across the face of goal. The home side tried to trouble the Villa defence by shooting from long range, but Villa were ready for this and generally ensured the play was closed down well outside the box.
On fifty three minutes a Freckleton ball across the box was headed back towards goal, but this was comfortably saved by Dave Bibby. This was the home sides best spell as three minutes later they hit the foot of the post. Villa continued to drive forward as the centre of midfield was now being controlled by their man of the match Matt Conway. The breakthrough finally came on the hour. Liam Conway won a corner on the right, Damien Stewart took the kick , his low ball in was turned into the net by Rhenden Pillay who reacted quicker then anyone else when the ball came into the area.
This deflated the home side as Villa looked to build on the goal. It was Rhenden Pillay who came close again ten minutes later as he turned a cross from Liam Conway onto the bar. On seventy four minutes Villa got a second, a quickly taken free kick on the right by Sam Shone was swept home at the far post by Ross Dickinson. The contest was effectively over, and things went  from bad to worse for the home side three minutes later when a lazy back pass was played straight to Sam Shone who made no mistake , beating the keeper with a low shot inside the near post.
So in the end a comfortably win, not a great game due to the strong wind, but a determined performance from Villa as they look to retain their league title.
