It was a return to winning ways for Villa as this put in a much improved performance to take the points against a spirited Turton side.

The visitors made a lively start by trying to take the game to Villa. It was very close for the first ten minutes as both sides contested the midfield.
With ten minutes played Villa went in front due in part to the tenacity of Liam Conway who chased down a defender to retrieve the ball. He gave the ball to Sam Shone who in turn was able to find Danny Dawson who unselfishly played in Damien Stewart who made no mistake to open the scoring.

This lifted the home side who grew in confidence and started to take control of the midfield. On eighteen minutes Villa won a free kick just outside the area, Damien Stewart took the kick but the keeper was able to hold the shot.
Turton's best effort came on thirty five minutes with a good header which was saved by Shaun Gibbs. A minute later and Villa could have had a second.
Good work in midfield by Matt Conway and Liam Conway allowed Sam Shone to release Damien Stewart with a long cross field pass, his first time shot flew six inches wide of the far post.

On thirty eight minutes Sam Shone was involved again, this time sending Liam Conway away down the right wing, his cross was met by Damien Stewart whose header flashed just over the bar. Three minutes later Shaun Gibbs again came to Villa's rescue as he tipped a deft chip over the bar. On the overall play Villa edged the first half, but were not in a position to relax as they finished the half with a slender lead.

From the restart Turton were still dangerous and with eight minutes played they caused trouble for Villa when a ball into the box was headed back across goal before a shot flew just wide of the Villa goal. On the hour Villa effectively made the game safe. A ball down the centre evaded the Turton defence releasing Danny Dawson who coolly rounded the Turton Keeper before slotting home.

Villa were now able to relax and start playing controlled attacking football, they came close again minutes later as Matt Conway released Liam Conway who cut inside the box before forcing the keeper into a save. The home side were now looking to build on their lead. Great play by Pavel Zverina saw him beat three players across the edge of the area before forcing the keeper into a save low to the ground.

With ten minutes remaining he came close again with a low shot that flew just wide. By the end Villa were in control of the game, and had two outstanding performances from James O'Loughlin and Rhys Crombie at the back.
A performance from the whole team that deserved praise as they put the previous weeks performance behind them and returned to their normal high standard.

Team - Gibbs, Wood, O'Loughlin, Crombie, Winstanley, L. Conway, Bradshaw,
M.Conway, Stewart, ( Zverina ) Shone, ( Pillay ) Dawson, ( Thompson )
