Euxton
Villa F.C - Match Report |

Shevington 1 - 2 Euxton Villa |
|
| |
Today's game brought us
together in a cup fixture against Shevington, who in my mind
was a well organised team, and who have some individual
quality players, and a very good side going forward, the
game started with a lot passion, with both teams knocking
the ball around well, there were chances at both ends, but
the break came midway in the first half with shevington
catching Euxton on the back foot, with a well drilled
counter attack, they got through in numbers and made Villa
pay 0 -1, but knowing this Villa team like I do, this did
not stop Euxton from playing the football they do, and with
about 10 - 15 min left in the first half, Euxton pulled it
level, with some neat pass and move football, which saw a
cross come in from the left, and a scramble at the near
post, of which saw James Marsden nip in to poke the ball
pass the Keeper 1 - 1.
The
second half started somewhat similar to the first but
within 10 min it seamed as though Shevington had
changed their formation, because it was Villa doing all
the pressing, and whenever Shevington came forward, the
back line of Villa dealt with everything very
comfortably, but as the second half grew, we new it
would take something special from either team to win
this Game, Step up Wil Monks, from possibly 30 yds out,
top right-hand corner, and this was placed there not
driven, I've got to put this Goal in my top 5 of Goals
in my 16yrs at Euxton, you had to be there to witness
it, to know what I mean, But this not stop both teams
from playing some of the best football I've seen in
years, Even though Euxton finished 2 - 1 Victors in the
End, Both teams played the game as it should be played,
with plenty of commitment and desire on a very difficult
pitch.
But I
must finish off, thanking every single squad member of
Euxton Villa U18's for a performance, that Ranks with me
as one of the Very Best
