“Villa Go
Top!”
The fixture’s produced another derby match for the 2nd
home game of the season. After Sunday’s fine performance,
Villa started nervously, with the midfield struggling to
stamp any authority on the game.
A Charnock Richard goal kick cleared the Villa defence and
their striker raced onto the loose ball to fire into the
goal. 0-1. But like Sunday’s game, this awoke the Villa boys
and their fluid passing game returned. Soon Liam was set
free down the right wing and he outpaced the Charnock
defence before driving a low shot past the keeper. 1-1.
There were some hard fought battles in midfield, before
another Villa attack saw a corner awarded on 16mins. Barney
swung it in and Jack was on hand to power it in. 2-1.
Charnock fought back, but the Villa defence of Matthew,
Mikey, Adam & Connor were proving more difficult to break
down today. Then 2mins before half-time, James ran onto a
loose ball in the Charnock area and crossed for Liam to stab
home his 2nd goal. 3-1 Half-time.
Second half saw the introduction of Bradley upfront for his
debut and within 2mins of the restart, Barney went on a
‘Maradona’ like dribble through the Charnock defence before
unselfishly passing to Nathan for him to score. 4-1. Villa
refused to sit back on this lead and yet another corner saw
the ‘double act’ of Barney (crossing) and Jack (scoring) to
make it 5-1.
With 20mins to go, Samuel & Kurt were brought on (for the
hardworking Jake & Connor) and they added freshness to the
right-hand side of the field which thwarted the Charnock
attacks.
Final score 5-1.
This was a well deserved win and yet another good team
performance.
The game was well refereed and played in good sporting
manner by both teams.
With Aspull & Ladybridge sharing the spoils, Villa now go 2
points clear at the top of league.
