Lostock and
11 Smoking Barrels……
It was like
the set of a film, but without the Director. With our coach
and leader in sick bay it was down to the trusty Assistant
Coach Lee to direct us, and that just what he did…….
With Si TV present to beam it (nearly) live to Royal
Preston, the boys gave a show of support to Coach Dylan
before taking to the field of play. The starting line of
Luke, Ben, Aedan, Thomas G, Kallan, Jack and Capt Jack were
ready to deliver their lines, with Ben, Aaron, Connor and
Little Thomas waiting in the wings for their curtain calls.
Act One Scene One and straight from the kick off
Euxton showed the boys and girl (great player by the way!)
of Lostock how they intended to play and with great
results. Kallan and Jack drove forward to find Thomas G who
took his opportunity and goal number one to Euxton.
With Act One Scene Two under way it wasn’t long
before the jinking left foot of Kallan was in on the act,
bobbing and weaving down field and into a goal mouth
scramble to squeeze home goal number two. From the restart
Euxton kept up the pressure and not to be outdone by the
forwards our stalwart defender Aedan made a weaving run
up-field to see if he could get his first goal but it was
not to be with Lostock changing the script and putting out
for a corner. Euxton’s domination was starting to pay and
goal number three came after several cleared corners with
Thomas G firing number two for him and number three for
Euxton.
Scene Three saw changes and on came Oliver for Thomas
G and Little Thomas for Capt Jack. The change did not break
the momentum and Oliver kept the pressure on the Lostock
goal with several shots just wide of the mark. As Act One
was coming to a close Kallan bagged goal number two and
Euxton’s fourth to bring the clapper board down on a great
first half performance.
Act Two opened with Euxton bombarding Lostock with
all six barrels and forcing a string of 5 corners in a row
with both Oliver and Aedan coming close. It was on corner
number five that Lostock made the one break of the match
with their number seven heading for goal only for Connor to
sprint back and save Euxton’s blushes.
Now Si TV had been in production for 30 minutes when what
can only be described as a technical hitch took place in the
broadcast when a roaming Aedan came bounding forward to cut
through the opposition and send the Camera team into
raptures to land the first goal of his Euxton U7s career and
put Euxton 5 goals up (let’s hope the camera team caught
it!).
Act Two Scene Two and with Euxton now at a canter Lee
rang the changes with goal scorer Aedan making way for Ben
and Thomas G replacing Oliver. Instant impact and goal
number six with the Jack’s and Connor combining to put
Thomas G through for his third goal. Lostock had little
reply and each time they had a restart they saw the nibble
feet of ether Kallan or Jack take the ball and head up field
with Ben, Aaron, Little Thomas hunting up field to get their
names on the goal sheet.
Goals number seven (Thomas G number 4) eight (Capt Jack) and
nine (Thomas G number 5) where much of the same with some
good inter passing between the boys.
By this stage the referee had lost count and was to get even
more confused when Capt Jack zig zagged between the
opposition to fire number 10 and his second.
With the game drawing to a close a returning Kallan clinched
his hat trick, to end the film and seal the can on an 11 nil
return to winning ways. Let’s hope Si TV captured all the
goals for Coach.
Next week sees a return to defend our unbeaten home record
against a visiting Longridge.
Let’s hope we can welcome back our very own Brian Potter for
next weeks match……Keep smiling the boys missed you.
