Euxton Villa F.C - Match Report

The Pirates came but did not find………

Captain Jack and his band of merry scallywags had different ideas.  It was time for the visit of Preston Pirates to meet the in-form Under 7s who where defending the perfect home record and did not intend to have it stolen away.

The first half saw the home team showing some great character in defending against the Pirates who had the early opportunities, only to be kept out by a fine display of keeping by Luke, who showed that he is growing into the position, along side the defending of the treasure by Aidan and Ben. The scallywags in midfield made raids up the field with little Thomas, Aaron, Oliver and Jack combining to keep up the pressure but where unable to break the deadlock and plunder the opposition goal.

The constant cry from the touchline during the first half was of “when can I come on Dylan?” from some substitutes (you know who I mean!).  Whilst the valiant rearguard actions was working to keep the Pirates from our treasure, Captain Jack made a break up field to plunder the goal  and was brought down just outside the penalty area.  The coach sent the message for Captain Jack to “bring out the cannon” and go for goal! With the Pirates defending Jack took aim, loaded his cannon and fired…..away the cannonball went racing towards its target GOOOOOAL 1-0 to Euxton, a hotly contested goal, with Oliver claiming it along with Jack (later handed to Jack during the post match celebration).

With the Pirates behind they took the sound of the retreat and made for the sidelines of half time.

With the scallywags of Euxton happy in their work it was time to bring on the changes, making way where Little Thomas, Aaron and Oliver to be replaced by the left footed duo of Callum and Thomas and the fancy feet of Connor.

The sound of the whistle rang out to commence the second half charge by the Pirates but it was not to be!  The scallywags moved up a gear and from the off had the Pirates in retreat mode.  Callum was first to break the hearts of the Pirates with the first of his goals, he weaved past a crowded defence to eventually tap home goal number 2 for Euxton.  Straight from the restart saw the Pirates give the ball away to Connor who broke down the pitch with some strong running on the wing from Jack to cross into the area to be met by Thomas for goal number 3.  The scallywags had them on the run and goal number 4 wasn’t far away.  The pace and passing of the Euxton team led Callum to the penalty area only to be brought down by a young Pirate who had no idea which way Callum was turning…PENALTY came the shout from the touchline, the referee could not refuse.  Up stepped Callum cannonball at the ready... GOAL number 4.  The swashbuckling Euxton Crew had them on the run and the key to the treasure wasn’t going anywhere.
The Pirates made for the half way line and the restart, ball on spot… referee at the ready… whistle blows… Callum steals the ball and heads south and plunders the goal for a well deserved hat trick and goal number 5.
Now the Euxton scallywags were in command on the joyride to keeping the treasure, goal number 6 saw a sweeping move between our star defender Aidan breaking forward in search of the goal he so richly deserves, he found Thomas who raided the Pirates for goal number 6.  With a delighted coach now safe in the knowledge the treasure could not go anywhere, he brought back the first half team which led to the magnificent seven coming at the final whistle from Oliver.

A resounding 7-0 win.
Next week the Euxton Crew take on The Simpson’s at Springfield… keep reading the next chapter of the Under 7s adventure.
