Considering the weather we had over the week and especially Saturday it was a surprise that the match was still on. The pitch wasn’t too bad although it was heavy going underfoot, raising concerns that it would hinder our normal passing game. Yet again we were proved wrong by the boys. Lancon kicked off and right from the kickoff we got possession, pushed forward, Barney, Robert and liam stringing some excellent passes together. All 3 came close with some good efforts, as we pushed forward, Lancon nearly capitalised on the gaps  left at the back, going close  a few times . Finally the boys efforts were rewarded, Barney latched onto a pass, moved forward and unleashed a shot into the bottom right corner 1-0. Lancon came back at the boys with renewed efforts , but our defence held firm. From a Bradley cross into the box,  Liam headed onto Barney who stroked home, 2-0.

Still the game was finally balanced , with Lancon playing some good attacking  football, this allowed our forwards to find space and Liam  running onto a fine through ball from Robert , rounded the keeper only to see his shot come back off the post. Barney, Bradley, Robert and Kyle going close with fine shots.

Euxton kicked off the second half and immediately gave the ball away, thankfully Lancon couldn’t capitalise on this. “wake up Euxton” calls from Andy seemed to do the trick, and the boys got their passing game going again. Their passing really started to open up the Lancon defence with Liam, Robert, Barney and Nicky going close. Following some determined running and tackling from Liam out on the left, he found Robert in the middle who duly slotted home 3-0. Still the boys were not satisfied and kept pushing forward, with sub Ryan chasing down a through ball and forcing a good save from the keeper. Lancon picked a loose ball just inside our half and unleashed a terrific shot which sailed over Tommo and into  the top corner, a fantastic goal by any means 3-1.

The match finished 3-1 and was a credit to both teams. The boys played some excellent football and should be really pleased by their efforts, we need to have this performance every week  boys , now we know what you are capable of.
