The boys kicked
off with the wind behind them and within 30 seconds were
one up, blink and you would have missed it. Liam and
Robert straight from the off, exchanged passes , with
Liam latching onto an excellent final ball from Robert,
to slot home, 1 nil, the visitors didn’t know what hit
them. From then on it was all one way traffic with
Euxton hitting the bar/post at least four or five times.
Efforts were flying in from all quarters, Mathew even
pushing forward and going close. It was beginning to
look if it was going to be one of those games where the
ball just wouldn’t go in, then Barney went past two
players and let fly, 2-0.
Still the boys kept up the pressure
and shots were being deflected , saved or shaving the
posts, until Barney again shot home with an excellent
strike, 3-0. The boys having started playing their usual
passing game then relaxed with everyone wanting to get
on the score sheet , with a result we wasted numerous
efforts to extend the lead. Shortly before half time up
popped Liam again to score a typical poachers goal 4-0.
Half time allowed Andy to bring on
the substitutes Ryan and Dan, and the second half
carried on as the first half had finished, with Euxton
creating numerous chances, but it seemed everyone wanted
to walk the ball in, and not pass. Liam completed his
hat trick with a fine shot and Ryan ran on to a through
ball, turned his man and slotted home 6-0. The boys were
coasting and as a result switched off for a while
allowing Myerscough to create a few chances, and
following a free kick just outside the area they duly
shot home 6-1.
The boys were delighted to win this
one by such a margin, but in reality they should have
really scored more. Well done boys, the season is far
from over.
