Euxton Villa F.C - Match Report
  Euxton Villa u10s 7 Penwortham Blue 2

Despite all the weather, it was good to see the match was on (well done the groundsman). The boys were in high spirits and despite the cold and rain were really up for the match, Bradley even sporting a new shorter haircut (brave boy).
The match kicked off with Euxton playing "downhill" and to be quite honest I dont think Penwortham knew what hit them. The boys played their passing game and were playing some excellent football despite the weather. Barney, Robert, Liam all going close soon on. The ball was being kicked off the line, inches past the post etc etc it just seemed if it would never go in, until Barney latched onto a pass turned and went past 2 defenders and slotted home. This relieved the boys tension and following again some excellent passing moves Barney slotted home number 2. Liam not to be out done went close with a a couple of left foot shots before he finally converted for number3. Everybody wanted to get in on the act and all the boys pushed forward, Bradley converting a cross from Liam to give goal number4. Despite some gallant efforts by the Penwortham boys our midfield kept pushing on and it was no surprise that Robert scored number5 from an excellent through ball from Kyle (nice hat by the way ). Still the boys pushed on and just before half time Liam went through  rounded the keeper and slotted home number 6.
Half time  saw the introduction of the super subs Dan and Ryan. As has been the norm in other games this season, the team seemed to go to sleep and allowed Penwortham to push forward and create a few close shaves, with Tommo being called into action and producing some excellent saves. Following some slack marking Penwortham scored  and this really gave them some belief and they piled on the pressure, and it paid off. They scored a wonder goal , their player hitting a superb shot from just inside our half which despite Tommos efforts  flew into the net,  6-2.
The boys then perked up and Ryan went close  with two fine efforts. Liam not to be outdone by his brother ( or was it the financial incentives shouted by the parents?) went  on one of his runs and shot home for his hat trick.
The game was played in excellent spirits by both teams and if the boys can play 2 halves like the first half they will reap the rewards.

Discuss this game in the Villa Room!!
