Euxton Villa u10
Brinscall 1 Euxton
Villa 2
We were all expecting a hard fought,
tight game and we were not disappointed. The game was played
in a great spirit from by both teams, each determined to
win. The first half was dominated by the midfield and
although some excellent chances were created we just
couldn’t press our slight advantage home. Liam, Bradley and
Barney all going close . The midfield players really started
to dominate and as such Tommo in goal was hardly troubled.
Euxton started to play their passing game and were playing
really well, a great pass from Bradley to Liam who laid off
an excellent pass to Bradley who took it in his stride and
stroked it pass the advancing keeper. 1-0. we continued to
pressurise and again Liam, Robert going close. An excellent
corner on the left from Robert was narrowly missed by
Bradley, had he connected it would have been a contender for
goal of the season.
Robert managed to get the ball in the net
with what looked like a diving header but the goal was
disallowed as the referee decided the ball went in off
Roberts arm.
From the goal kick the ball went to their
no 7 (who had a really good game and was a source of all
their game plays) who struck a beautiful shot from on the
half way line which dipped over Tommos head and in. 1-1.
Half time came and we felt that we had
stood their pressure and were feeling comfortable.
Right from the kickoff for the second
half, Brinscall either upped their game or we relaxed too
much but whatever, they were creating more chances and saves
from Tommo and headers off the line by Robert and Liam kept
us in the game. Despite this pressure we kept plugging away
, Robert putting in excellent corners and from one of these
Matthew (yes Matthew) who had crept to the back post
unmarked, stabbed home 2-1.
Despite being under a lot of Brinscall
pressure the boys still managed to play some good football
and were rightful winners.
Mention must be made of the referee, who
had an excellent game, talking to players, explaining
decisions and managing to keep the game flowing. Both sets
of boys made numerous foul throws and no doubt Andy will
have them practising at training.
A really entertaining game and a credit
to both teams.
