Euxton Villa 1 BAC 3
Last week saw the
boys produce a hard fought win against a good organised
team, this week they faced the league leaders who had
previously beaten them at home. On paper it was same team
minus Nicky who was replaced by Adam, but it wasn’t the
same team out on the park. The game started as we expected
with Bac putting us under a lot of pressure, and us not
really being able to get going, the boys just didn’t seem up
for it. Very few chances were created at both ends with both
midfields not keeping possession or making any decent
passing movements.
Totally against the run of play, Liam picked up one of the
numerous loose passes , just inside the BAC half , looked up
and hit a fantastic shot which sailed over the keepers head
and in, 1-0. BAC responded as you would expect , piling on
the pressure and pushing forward. Half time came as a relief
allowing Andy to try and get the team going, and to start
talking to each other.
When
BAC kicked off the second half, the boys mentally were still
in the changing rooms, let BAC number 10 waltz through and
slot the equaliser home, 1-1. This gave BAC the
encouragement to move up a gear and increase the pressure,
and sure enough they went ahead with a deflected own goal.
The boys heads went down and apart from a few long range
shots were not able to raise their game and try to snatch an
equaliser. It was no surprise that they went further ahead
with a header from a corner, 3-1 game over.
BAC
are a good organised team, but we should have been able to
make more of a game of it. It must have been the half term
blues, afternoon kick-off, or late nights but whatever, the
boys just didn’t seem up for it, and played well below their
capabilities. All is not lost though, the boys know they can
play better and there is still a long way to go in the
season, next up are Tarleton, another good team , hopefully
the boys will be well and truly up for it.
