Euxton Villa F.C - Match Report
  Euxton Villa  0  -  9  Brinscall Village

2pm Kick Off 28th Jan 2007

Where the weather was concerned it was business as usual at Southlands. After a few weeks break the team gathered in the cold. Tom M wore the captains armband.

1st Half
From the off Villa looked to have lost nothing during the enforced lay off and fought well for the ball then after just 5mins things took a turn for the worse as they seemed slow to the ball and against a team as good as today’s opponents that is an attitude that will be punished, and so it was on 8mins.1-0.
Very few challenges were made as Brinscall surged forward scoring again on 14mins.2-0. Tom G came off to be replaced by Kyle on 15mins and Brinscall won the first corner of the game. They scored direct from a well taken corner kick on 16mins.3-0.
Brinscall ran on to score on:
22mins.4-0.
26mins.5-0.
29mins.6-0.
On each occasion Villa either played them onside or the last man was too close to the defenders to be of use and so it was , as in many games, the through ball into space accounted for all but one of Brinscall’s goals.
The whistle blew. A cold and leaden footed Villa walked to the sidelines.

Half Time. 6-0.
The team remained silent as the management delivered their views. No changes were made.

2nd Half
The Villa started the half much the same as the first one only this time they looked to carry on the effort, and they did despite Brinscall scoring another early goal 2min in.7-0.
This half they kept up the pace and fought for the ball. Villa won the first corner on 11 mins and battled to keep possession. When they spread the ball out wide the two wingers caused serious problems for Brinscall and put them on the back foot.
The pressure led to a number of shots one of which was Greg’s as he hit the post on 17mins. Whilst the Villa didn’t drop their heads neither did Brinscall and scored again on 24mins. 8-0.
Right on 30mins Brinscall score again.9-0.

Full Time. 9-0
I think the boys could sum up this game far better than anyone from the sidelines.
Maybe at times the Villa could do with a bit more organisation & determination to compliment their passing skills & great team spirit. They never squabbled amongst themselves and despite 9 goals they remained as a team shouldering the responsibility for the loss equally. It has to be said again when running forward and passing into space they are a match for any team.
