Euxton Villa F.C - Match Report
  Lancon Jnrs v Euxton Villa 2pm K.O 7th January 2007

Back to the mill after a lengthy Christmas break and the rain turned up to meet us as per usual. The constabulary pitch was just about playable. The ref blew to start the game. Tom M sported the captains arm band.

1st Half
Oops, 36 secs was all it took for Lancon to score their first goal of the New Year.1-0.
Lancon pressed on and as if the first goal wasn’t warning enough they continued to exploit the long ball down the middle for the next 5 mins. Euxton were under pressure. The game levelled out a little and despite the mud and long grass Villa attempted to play to feet. A couple of chances went begging as Jamie G and Sam attempted to get their eye(s) in.
Lancon hit the post on 10mins and it was up to an alert Tom G to clear it off the line.
The game was all in the middle despite Villa being able to put Lancon under pressure when they used the wings.
Villa got the first corner of the game on 13mins. Jamie G had a decent shot on goal on 20mins and was getting closer.
Jamie A came off on 21mins and Smithy was moved to right wing and Ryan M partnered Greg in the middle.
Following a Villa free kick Lancon cleared and ran the length of the pitch to secure their second of the game. 23mins. 2-0
The half ran out with no further scoring.

Half Time

The management pointed out the error of Villa’s ways and asked for the challenges and the use of the wings for the second half. They wanted the boys to put Lancon under early pressure and to produce a goal, they buoyed the team as they ran out.

2nd Half
This started much the same as the first half had ended and with Alex now pushing up to partner Jamie G, Tom M, Liam, Tom G and Danny were starting to “dig in”. A loose ball resulted in the first corner of the half to Lancon on 3mins and they struck a killer blow on 5mins with another goal.3-0. Will had no chance. The crowd cheered for the oranges not to drop their heads. Liam came off to be replaced by Kyle.
Alex came off for a well earned rest on 7mins and Rob took to the pitch.
The game was more balanced now so it was heartbreaking to see another Lancon goal go in on 13mins. 4-0.
With a surge of Villa energy they pushed forward from the restart and Jamie G let rip with an excellent shot to put one on the score sheet for Villa. 14mins.4-1.
Villa now started to play a little and there was some good interchanging & one two play down the left.
Ryan M moved over to right wing as Alex came back to replace a hard working Smithy on 19mins.
Villa took a consolation goal on 28mins as Greg put one in the back of the net, time had ran out for the Villa though as the very competent referee blew bang on 30mins.

Full Time 4-2.
