Hoole V Euxton Villa
The sun shone down on a good football
pitch as Euxton prepared to take on their challengers Hoole
for the third match of the season.
As the whistle blew Euxton went straight
into attack mode taking the game forward to a strong Hoole
defence. Hoole shielded a good shot on target to control
the ball, then turning the defending over to Euxton by
playing a long ball over the top. This caught Euxton
defenders by surprise; a chase was on for the ball just
outside the goal area. Hooles striker showed good strength
as he took on two of Euxtons defenders to win a penalty. A
good kick into the left hand corner put Hoole into the lead
1 - 0.
This was exactly what Euxton needed as
they settled into some good team football with one attack
after the other sending shot after shot just wide of the
target, a long goal kick from Hoole was won in midfield by
Euxton, played back to defence, to left wing, crossed to mid
field and an excellent strike projected a high ball straight
into the top of the net, it was game on 1 - 1.
Within no time Hoole took advantage of a
free kick given just short of the half way line by lifting
the ball over Euxton’s defending line and shot the ball
again scoring their second goal. Refusing to be caught on
the back foot Euxton replied immediately with three passes
to set up yet another goal 2 - 2.
Repeated attacking form Euxton, put
Hoole's defence under pressure bringing down a player in the
box, a penalty was awarded to Euxton which was effectively
converted 2 - 3 to Euxton.
Hoole fought back but to no avail.
Exton failed to be disheartened by the 9 offside’s given
against their attack in the half and spirits were strong as
they broke through again to score 2 - 4. Euxtons midfield
was committed and a strong drive made way for another
tremendously executed shot lobbing the keeper who to be fair
had no chance, leaving a half time result of 2 - 5.
Second half kick off saw Euxton utilising
their midfield and a strong committed drive made way for
another well executed goal from the front 2 - 6. Hoole
wasn’t giving up but neither were Euxton, playing like it
was still 0 - 0.
Hoole weren’t going to lye down and take
what was coming as they got stuck in to some hard graft,
battling well trying to get the ball forward. A couple of
mistakes from Euxton gave free kicks away that were well
taken by Hoole as they threatened their way back. Showing
strength of character and determination the two sides
battled well. Hoole won a corner, feeding a long ball into
the goal area and a scuffle paid off, earning Hoole another
deserved goal 3 - 6.
Euxton continued to apply the pressure
attacking up front, working as a team. A strong attack
earned us a corner ball which was fed though to the goal
area, defended, attacked, and defended again until a gap was
found and a cheeky little back heel put the ball in the net
again. Overall Euxton were able to change up a gear when
needed and seemed to have control of the game even when
behind for a short spell, conclusion 3 - 7. This was a good
game by the lads that was enjoyed by the parents.
