Eagley 2 Euxton Villa 2
28th October 2006
The pitch was in
immaculate condition for this Premier League game, a credit
to the grounds man at Eagley.
Euxton again rang
the changes due to injuries and holidays (in the football
season - what is happening ? ) and started with Stuart
Bingham in defence and Ryan Lilley up front on his own.
Euxton controlled the first half and after settling down,
took the lead in the 35th minute when Alfie Guttridge laid
the ball into man of the match Ryan Lilley’s path, and he
coolly struck the ball into the corner of the net from fully
20 yards, showing that his new red boots weren't just for
show. Euxton finished the half in control with Lee Chambers
and Stuart Bingham in total control at the back.
The second
half carried on much the same way with Euxton’s midfield
trio of Loughlin Woodman and Whittaker controlling the game,
whilst Lilley was doing a sterling job upfront, leading the
line majestically. And it was Lilley , who, everybody
thought had sewn the game up for Euxton when his deflected
shot found its way past the keeper to make it 2- 0 for
Euxton .
But n ! With 4 mins
to go Euxton relaxed and were punished by 2 late goals,
making the final score 2 - 2
A lesson learnt by
Euxton? We hope so, the game is never over until the final
whistle, but bearing in mind the games that Villa have had
over the last weeks it is understandable ( I think )) ? The
last three performances have been nothing short of amazing!
WELL DONE TO THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
