Cup Quarter Final
Euxton were 2 –0
down in this game and up against a strong and determined
side. It looked for a little while that the dream of
repeating last years cup success might be over.
They scored in the
first few minutes and then with 5 minutes left of the first
half were awarded a penalty, which gave them a 2-0 lead.
Euxton needed to get
back into the game and after good work from Craggy, Josh
beat his man and delivered a great cross into the box that
Lewis finished really well with a side foot placement. In
normal circumstances we would have been raving about the
goal, as it was we were just glad to be back into the match.
At half time the
boys needed to be shocked into responding to the challenge
they faced and for once the management team “good cop / bad
cop” roles were reversed and some honest feedback was given
as well as some organisational changes made.
Things were very
different in the second half and goals from Connor (2) James
D (2) and James G enabled us to get home comfortably in the
end.
A game of two
halves? Certainly a game of two Villas!
It was a struggle
at first but the cup dream is still alive.
