Match Report  28th January 07

Euxton played some good football in very windy conditions to win this match comfortably. Playing with the wind on their backs they were ahead after 2 minutes when Chris followed up from inside the box when the keeper palmed away a free kick.

On 9 minutes a good corner from Craggy resulted in 2 attempts being blocked before Connor finished with a half volley. Then on 13 minutes Josh delivered a good ball into the box and Craggy met the clearance to the edge of the box with a well-timed drive (nice because we had worked on that at training).

On 20 minutes Josh beat the offside trap and went in bravely against the goalkeeper to lob the ball into the net. On 22 minutes Chris broke down the right played a one two with Connor and broke into the box before laying it on a plate to Connor to finish. It was good football.

We were 6 –0 up at half time after Josh scored from just outside the box in the last minute of the half.

At half time the match was over as a contest but we wanted to make some changes to positions as well as concentrating on passing and moving.

8 minutes into the second half Josh, Chris and Connor combined really well to create a chance for Connor inside the box, which he took well to complete his hat trick.

A minute later a clearance to the edge of the area, was met by James G who hit the ball back over the keeper’s head to score. Two minutes later the keeper parried a shot from Lewis and Chris pounced to finish with a firm shot.

Chris completed his hat trick and a strong display when he carried the ball into the area and scored with a well-placed shot.

Josh completed the hat trick of hat tricks on the day when after a run by Johnny and a cross from Steven he finished well from the six-yard line.

There was just time for Craggy to top a Man of the Match performance (awarded for great play and a mature response to some provocation) to hit a great drive from outside of the area into the top corner.

For the record Matty touched the ball twice and stood freezing in his goal – he should just about be thawed out for Thursday training.
