Match Report U12s vs Gregson Lane LFA
Cup Qtr Final 10th December
Euxton continued their Lancashire FA cup
journey with the quarter final match against Gregson Lane.
It was important for the boys not to fall into the same trap
as they did against Leyland Albion in an earlier round, of
allowing a convincing win a few weeks earlier to shape their
attitude to the match.
They got off to a great start when Josh
got onto a through ball and finished well after 11 minutes.
Three minutes later Chris finished from inside the box and
the game was effectively won on 20 minutes with another goal
from Josh.
The game was played in the Gregson Lane
half for most of the first period and 2 goals inside the
last 5 minutes of the half from Lewis and Connor gave Euxton
a comfortable 5 –0 lead at half time.
Euxton had done exactly what was
requested in the team talk – forget about the convincing win
in the league, work hard and get the game killed off early.
The second half it has to be said was
rather quiet with only a goal from Connor midway through the
half to change the score. The goal was set up be Lewis who
had probably his best match for Euxton in the game. As well
as scoring himself he set up a number of our attacks with
some great passing. It was good to see a clean sheet again
(4th on the row) and great to be in the semi
finals.
