Euxton Villa F.C - Match Report
  Euxton Villa 6 - 0 Lostock Hall

Euxton lined up on a sunny saturday morning with Aaron in goals, Liam, Luke, Joe, Jack, Marshall and Al up front with James starting on the bench. Captain for today was Liam.

Euxton started well and looked lively from the off on what was a very narrow pitch, the boys are being told a lot lately about pass and move and not to be afraid to shoot from distance. All that training paid dividends today as the boys passed superbly and got an early goal after a great strike from Marshall on the left wing. Part way through the first half James replaced Marshall on the left, but the boys kept there shape and continued to take the game to Lostock.

Not long after coming on James played a great cross into the box that was headed in at the back post by Joe, which is the first time I remember him scoring with his head, not that you know it with how well it was taken. Not long after Joe added a third leaving the keeper with no chance. At that point it looked like everything was going Villa's way, when all of sudden Lostock seemed to recover and were looking to get at Villa.

Liam was unusually beaten to the ball by the Lostck striker who turned to run at goal, he then hit a powerful thunderbolt which Aaron saved superbly (probably your best save yet Aaron) soon after Lostock's striker hit another great shot which hit the crossbar and dropped down into the box. Just when it looked like Lostock would score on the follow up Aaron bravely dived at the strikers feet and smothered the ball.

HT 3 - 0

Gary talked to the boys at half time about how important it was to pick out passes and not to be hitting hit and hope balls and to also keep hold of the ball. Gary told the boys how well they had all done and to keep doing the good things they had done on the first half. Marshall came back on at half time in replace of Joe.

The second half started and it was obvious straight away that the boys had paid attention to Gary at half time and were starting to make sure there passes were reaching a villa player. James once again provided a great pass to Al who ran at the keeper before hitting a shot that was saved by the keeper but hit a defender who was running back and the ball squirmed into the goal. After setting two up James then hit a thunderbolt of his own to make it 5 - 0. Al had the last word, following good work by Marshall Al turned in the box before hitting a great low strike into the bottom corner to finish the game 6 - 0.

The boys played really well on what was a much smaller pitch than we are used to. Aaron made two great saves and had probably his best game for Villa in terms of his distribution and thouroughly deserved his clean sheet. Although the clean sheet was also helped by some great brave defending by Liam and Luke, it seemed today that on the few occasions that either were beat the other would be there to sweep up. Although Malaky was missing today these three have buily a great understanding at the back and it is a joy to see such good defending at such a young age. Joe, Marshall and James were all a constant threat going forward and each one of them played some great passes today and just as important they all looked to get back and help defend whenever they lost the ball. Jack in the centre started quietly going about his business going from one end of the pitch to the other and looking to break up any Lostock attacks. In the second half Jack got much more involved attacking and played some great through balls. Al worked tirelessly in the first half but was being outnumbered and out muscled when the ball was at his feet but he never stopped and got his reward in the second half with two goals and numerous shots on target. Had it not been for the Lostock keeper I am sure Al would have scored more and he would of deserved it with the effort he showed.

All in all a great game with the boys getting better week by week. A special mention to Lostock Hall who did not let there heads drop and certainly didn;t let Villa have it all there own way.

Gary decided that once again all the boys had played that well that it would not be possible to pick a man of the match.

Well done boys and see you at Training Monday
