Euxton Villa 4 Eccleston and
Heskin 1
Euxton used the benefit of a
full squad for this game and made 6 changes, allowing all of
the players who have not been in the starting 11 on a
regular basis, to line up for kick off.
Straight from the start Euxton
pressed and we hit the post twice in the opening 3 mins.
Ecclestone worked very hard to keep Euxton out and did so
for 20 minutes. Then Oliver took a throw into Connor's feet,
received a return pass and put the ball into the box where
Tom followed up well to finish.
It looked like Euxton switched
off after that and were caught out after 26 minutes . Some
very sloppy defending with 2 players not heading the ball
when they could have done allowed Ecclestone to make the
most of the resulting gap and beat Matty.
The wake up call worked and
within a minute Lewis moved the ball onto his left foot
inside the box and scored.
2 - 1 at half time . Ecclestone
had worked extremely hard to keep us out but it is fair to
say that Euxton had not really got going.
Euxton improved in the second
half with Joe in particular beating his man on a number of
occasions . He got to the touchline and delivered a good
cross on 4 occasions but we did not make the most of them.
After 39 minutes Jack E took
control of a ball outside of the box and sent a great shot
into the net. It was a bit of quality.
On 53 minutes the scoring was
complete when Josh adjusted his feet well to meet a bouncing
ball and finish in style. A second bit of quality.
Ecclestone have clearly improved
and as always played the game with great spirit and
determination. The Ecclestone goalkeeper played well and made
a number of good saves. We did have a "squad team" on the
pitch and so there were plenty of benefits from the game.
Overall it was the right result in a number of ways.
