Euxton Villa 6  Walton Le Dale 0

This was a closer game than the score suggests, though Euxton always looked the better team. Walton Le Dale were strong down the middle of the pitch and threw lots of players forward in a number of counter attacks. They were however, less disciplined in defending and as a result left gaps for us to exploit.

On 11 minutes Connor scored with a great reaction header following a driven cross from Matthew.  Then on 13 minutes a well struck free kick from Matthew could not be held by the keeper and Connor was in the right place to finish the rebound.

Walton Le Dale continued their approach of pushing players forward and it let to reward when they were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes. Unfortunately for them they missed the chance to bring the game to 2 -1 which might have made the outcome tighter.  Within 5 minutes Dominic had allowed the ball to run across his body before unleashing a great drive for 3 -0 . Those 5 minutes determined who would win the match.

Euxton started much the stronger in the second half and the game was much more one sided.  On 35 minutes Steven hit a dropping ball on the volley and sent it flying into the net . Connor completed his hat trick on 46 minutes and Thomas capped a fine substitute appearance by finishing with a classic strike after a strong run .

A  6-0 win was a great result against a strong side who put in a lot of effort and will certainly improve. We scored some well taken goals and defended strongly against a committed team.
