Match Report

30th October 2005

Eccleston and Heskin 0 Euxton Villa 15

Under wet and windy conditions Euxton continued their fine start to the season with a convincing win. I am not going to detail all of the action but for the record  it was 8 - 0 at half time and the goal scorers in the match were Tom 3  Josh 3  Connor 3  Myles 2  Joseph 2 Steven 1 and a special mention for Jack who scored his first ever goal - well done Jack you took it well. I am sure you could do with mentioning it to Steve once or twice more.

There were a number of pleasing aspects to the match  - we played some good football with a great spirit and celebrated goals together - regardless of who scored it. Most of all was the way the lads who were on the sidelines supported those on the pitch - thats a great sign. It reinforces our belief that any successful side need a good squad not just a good team, in both attitude and ability. We have that.

A few special mentions - firstly  Sammy who showed what a good defender he is , Tom who worked hard up front and took all of his goals really well , Oliver who had his best match of the season on the right side of midfield and to Joe who came off the bench and slotted two nice goals.

Most of all to James D who agreed to go in goal in the absence of Matty and did well. In the first half I am not sure he touched the ball and looked cold , but when we were playing against the tide in the second half he certainly had to come and claim the ball and made a few good saves - Well done and thanks James.

All this left us with selection headaches in every position for next week .

I must mention the players and supporters of Eccleston who continued to play the game in the right spirit and with lots of effort regardless of the scoreline - a few of us have been there and it takes a good attitude to keep you going.

Man of the match : James D
