Longsands Ripon Reds 0 Euxton
Villa 9
A good result but not a great
game to be a spectator. Based on results so far this season
the boys expected to win comfortably and they did. They won
9 - 0 and based on chances it could have been double that.
After 5 minutes the outcome of the game was never in doubt
but Euxton did not play like they can and often took an
extra touch or took on an extra player when they did not
need to , which made it frustrating to watch at times.
On this evidence Longsands are
a game limited team and offered little threat to the Euxton
goal. Matty spent most of the match freezing at one end of
the pitch.
By contrast Longsands goalkeeper
was very busy and proved to be a brave and capable player .
He made a number of good saves and was clearly the man of
the match from Longsands.
For the record Euxton
goalscorers were Conner 3 (a hat trick despite what he would
agree was an unusually quiet performance from him) Josh 2
(could have had a hat trick if he had not decided to chip
the goalie from 25 yards with no defender in sight! ) George
1 (second of the season both with the left foot - time he
scored with his head) Dominic 1 (a good second half
substitute appearance and getting back to his best) and the
discovery of the match James G scoring twice as a
replacement for Connor up front. But for a couple of fine
saves could have had a hat trick.
The positives in the game were
that we got Jack, Sammy, Oliver, Tom and Lee full games and
they all did well for us. We tried players in different
positions (discovering a centre forward option perhaps?) and
worked hard on a bitterly cold day. You can only beat what
is put in front of you and we did - even though the
match was hardly a glowing tribute to boys football.
Much much tougher opponents next
week and we will have to raise our game - I am sure this
team will do just that.
